English Workshop 8: okviphoatdong store Students Uncovering IELTS Writing Task 2 Using the P.E.E.L Method

03/25/2026

To equip students with academic skills and improve their English proficiency, especially with the goal of achieving success in the IELTS exam, the Faculty of English held English Workshop 8 on the morning of March 25, themed “P.E.E.L – IELTS Writing Task 2’s Secret Weapon,” attracting a large number of students.

The workshop helps students “take in” an effective English learning method

Representatives of the Faculty of English attended the event, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Huy Cuong, Head of the Faculty, and lecturers. The workshop was accompanied by Ms. Mac Bao Tram, an English teacher at ENVY English Center. With her hands-on teaching experience, the speaker provided clear and accessible insights into how to succeed in Writing Task 2, one of the most challenging sections for many IELTS test-takers.

At the workshop, students were introduced to and analyzed the P.E.E.L method—a structure for writing coherent and logical paragraphs, consisting of:
Point (main idea), Explain (explanation), Example (example), and Link back (link back to the argument).
Through this approach, learners can “break down” the writing prompt, develop ideas clearly, and avoid rambling or losing focus.

Not stopping at theory, the speaker also directly guided students to practice writing paragraphs using the P.E.E.L structure. She pointed out common mistakes and how to improve students’ writing. The atmosphere was lively, with many questions and practical discussions from students about how to develop ideas, use academic vocabulary, and manage time during the exam.

Students actively exchange ideas and participate in practical exercises

English Workshop 8 not only helped students better understand IELTS Writing Task 2 strategies, but also contributed to improving academic writing thinking—an important skill in international study and work environments. Hopefully, this method will help students feel more confident when completing the task and achieve the best possible scores.
